This large and impressive solid bronze medal of the Italian Social Republic was established in 1944 and awarded to military personal who distinguished themselves whilst engaged in military operations against partisans, primarily Communists, in the north of Italy. Benito Mussolini met his end at the hands of such a band of Partisans in April 1945. Supplied with a length fascist tricolore ribbon.
